The attacks were politically motivated, carried out by a Norwegian right-wing extremist targeting democratic institutions, the Labour Party in particular, and politically involved youth. The terrorist\u2019s atrocities lack precedent in Norwegian history. KORO\u2014Public Art Norway invites artists and architects to submit entries to an international open call for artists and architects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The process towards realizing the memorial will involve the public, and KORO will facilitate open events with the aim of supporting public discussions and critical discourse around the histories and possibilities for memorials today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Progress:<br>September 18\u2013November 1, 2023: open call for expressions of interest<br>December 2023: Selection of up to ten artists for competitions first phase<br>June 2024: Selected artists share their proposals with the jury and the public<br>September 2024: Up to three proposals selected to move on to stage two<br>Spring 2025: The winning project selected<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Remuneration: The invited competition will take place in two stages: The first stage of the competition aims to explore the scope of possibility for what a meaningful memorial can be in the 21st century, putting forward different expressions and good, relevant proposals.
