Anna Lehrer

Mentee: Helen Feifel

Anna Lehrer (*1988) lives and works in Stuttgart.  She studied Architecture at the State Academy of Fine Arts Stuttgart, during which she also took part in the Photography class under Ricarda Roggan. She also spent time studying in Tallinn, Hangzhou and Beijing. Anna Lehrer works with photography, sculpture and installation.

Her works deal with the perception of two- and three-dimensional spatial arrangements and explore different forms of spatial memory.

In architectural design, functional processes, ideals, representative motivations and social orders are spatialised. Buildings function as memory storages that make collective and personal remembrances spatially accessible. Her site-specific installations aim to sensitise the physical-spatial process of perception and to reflect on this experience. Her photography, though, appears in her works as a mediator between two- and three-dimensional spatial arrangements. Sculptural approaches are explored within the spatial dimensions of her photographs.

Anna Lehrer’s work has been presented in group exhibitions at Kulturpark Dettinger, Esslingen district, Museum Folkwang, Essen (UG), in the Schaulager at Galerie EIGEN+ART , Berlin, F/Stop , Leipzig and at the F/Stop Festival for Photography in Nuremberg, among others.
