Raphael Sbrzesny (*1985) lives and  works in Berlin. He studied visual arts, sculpture, classical music , experimental musical theatre and theory in Stuttgart, M\u00fcnchen, Bern and Paris.
Raphael Sbrzesny promotes an expanded concept of performance and sculpture and develops multimedia installations in which he uses videos, costumes, texts and wearable pieces that can also be utilised as musical instruments.   
In his work he employs the body as an instrument and setting for subjective history. With this in mind the artist developed a large number of figures such as the \u201cEumel\u201d, the \u201cK\u00f6nig\u201d, \u201cSophie\u201d and the \u201cPrincipal Boy\u201d, around which complex arrangements were constructed. The concept of becoming and using sculpture in a performative way is crucial to his work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Raphael Sbrzesny\u2019s works have been shown in solo and group exhibitions nationally and internationally. From 2018 until 2023 he was professor of Rethinking Interpretation in Sound, Performance and Conceptual Artistic Practice at the University of the Arts Bremen.
