The Participatory Residency Programme, organized by the Academy of the Arts of the World (ADKDW) in collaboration with Un-Label, invites applications for a residency in Cologne, Germany, from April to September 2025. This program focuses on artists, activists, and cultural workers with disabilities who engage with intersectional issues, particularly anti-ableist and de- or postcolonial critiques of power. Applicants should propose artistic projects that emphasize power critique, participation, and community involvement within contemporary cultural contexts.
Selected artists-in-residence will be tasked with designing participatory activities and planning events in collaboration with the local community, ensuring that participants are active contributors rather than passive recipients. The ADKDW and Un-Label will provide suitable workspaces and event facilities for up to six weeks, along with accessible accommodations, including a one-bedroom apartment with an elevator and balcony. Additional support, such as bathroom assistance and mobile ramps, will be available as needed to ensure a conducive environment for all participants
The call is addressed to artists, activists and cultural workers with disabilities, or disabled artists, activists and cultural workers of all disciplines.
