Ars Biologica Independent Studies (ABIS) is an international educational program connecting students from across the arts and sciences to support practice-based inquiry into contemporary social, environmental, and technological conditions. ABIS is one of the pillars of the Ars Biologica project developed within the Budweis European Capital of Culture 2028. The project is a 4-day field workshop in Nové Hrady. Set in the landscape of the Novohradské Mountains, the workshop will focus on the edges of wetlands, forests, and bodies of water, exploring how these zones are shaped by both human and non-human activity. The workshop builds on last year’s edition and further develops multispecies and interdisciplinary approaches. In addition to field research, it will also offer space for sharing, reflection, and collective work on the emerging Multispecies Research Almanac. Workshop dates: May 28–31, 2026
Artists and scientists can apply.
Participation and accommodation are free.
