The Institut français x Cité internationale des arts residency program is aimed at artists and cultural professionals who wish to develop a research and creative project in Paris, during a residency of three, six or nine months. Artists’ applications must be submitted by one or more cultural partners (such as the French cultural network abroad or French/foreign cultural institutions). These partners should support the application by submitting the file and by covering the costs of international travel and a residency allowance. The Institut français provides the laureates with a live-in studio at the Cité internationale des arts free of charge, along with artistic and professional support.
The selection process is open to artists and cultural professionals residing outside of France for at least 5 years, without age limit, from all countries, in various disciplines.
The Institut français de Paris is responsible for renting individual studio apartments at the Cité internationale des arts.
It is a condition, that the associate partner(s) undertake to cover round-trip travel expenses; ensure that the artist has insurance; ensure that the artist has a visa allowing him/her to stay in France for the duration of the residency; provide the artist with a living allowance of at least €1,000 per month.
