The Malta Biennale will celebrate its second edition in the spring of 2026, and
will be held in various locations across the Maltese archipelago. The thematic and conceptual framework CLEAN | CLEAR | CUT of the Malta Biennale 2026 is conceived to evoke a sequence of thoughts and actions that call for an urgent transformation of the world we inhabit.

This call is intended for both local and international artists wishing to present projects in accordance with the conceptual framework of the second edition of the Malta Biennale. Artists can apply from any stage in their career (emerging or established) and from any nation with one or more artworks. Submitted artworks and project proposals can be site- or space-specific, new artworks, or may form part of the artist’s existing portfolio. Accepted artistic media include all forms of visual art: installation, painting, culpture and three-dimensional artworks, performance, photography and video, multidisciplinary and collaborative projects are also welcome.

Artists selected for the Malta Biennale 2026 will be provided with a maximum amount of EUR 13,000 per project.
