The Mucem/Iméra residency for 2025-26 invites artists, architects, researchers, and professionals in museology and heritage to submit research projects relevant to the Mediterranean and the thematic focus of „Arts and Sciences: Indisciplined Knowledge.“
Applicants must develop their projects in collaboration with the Mucem’s scientific team, emphasizing immersive co-construction. Three research focuses are available: exploring the Mucem’s collections in relation to upcoming exhibitions, rethinking artistic interventions in society museums through participatory workshops, and investigating Fort Saint-Jean’s history for potential outdoor or indoor exhibition proposals. The residency encourages innovative artistic and scenographic responses that engage with the site’s historical and ecological context.
Artists can only apply, if they have not resided in France for more than 12 months in the 3 years preceding the call for applications.
Artists receive a salary or stipend of 2000 euros monthly, depending on the candidate’s status. Residents also receive travel expense coverage and free accommodation on the Iméra site.
