“Then try this”, a non-profit research, design and development organisation based in the UK (Cornwall), offers residencies on the theme of moths and the viruses that affect them. residencies are a chance to step away from your usual situation, work in new surroundings, on a new topic, for a short period of time. You can use the time to develop risky new ideas or develop an existing project in a unique environment, with our support. residencies are run with Dr. Ben Longdon, an evolutionary biology researcher who is studying moths and their viruses. The residencies will be based in Cornwall. The residencies can be individual or collective, remote or in-person.
The call is open to professionals from various fields, including Artist, designer, maker, musician, chef, writer, grower, scientist, poet, dancer… In-person residents will need to check their eligibility for a paid engagement in the UK or have the right to work in the UK.
The chosen artist(s) receive a budget of £2300 for a 2-4 week residency, or £1150 for a 1-2 week residency. The budget covers all expenses, i.g. artist fee, materials, travel, accommodation, childcare etc.
