The UNESCO Creative Cities of Media Arts Modena and Karlsruhe are working on a project that promotes the exchange of artistic and urban perspectives. Not only artists and cultural professionals, but also young residents of the two cities can apply to participate in this cultural exchange.
With a focus on media arts, the main goal of the CULT project is to foster direct participation of the citizens of Modena and Karlsruhe in the democratic life, and in the definition of the cultural policies of the cities. By reflecting on a new narrative for Europe, citizen-oriented, equality promoting, forward-looking and constructive, the project aims to promote intercultural dialogue, raise awareness of the richness of Europe‘s cultural and linguistic environment and strengthen a sustainable development of our cities.
Participants will take part in 2 exchange visits as part of a group of 50 people (cultural operators, artists, entrepreneurs in the creative sector, students, members of cultural associations active in the media arts field and/or professionals working in urban planning) one in their own city and the other in the other city. They will gain an insight into the cities‘ tangible and intangible cultural heritage with reference to media arts.
Artists, students, young cultural workers and/or creative entrepreneurs with good English language skills who live, work or study in Modena or Karlsruhe can apply.
The program offers the possibility to work together with a broad cultural practitioners‘ network and to establish new contacts through the participation in workshops, meetings, and other activities both in presence and online. Travel costs (by bus) and accommodation expenses (apartment/ shared rooms) will be covered by the project.
