Hannah Cooke (*1986) has been living and working in Karlsruhe since 2008. While studying media art at the Karlsruhe University of Arts and Design (HfG) and the University of Amsterdam, her art was already being featured in international exhibitions.
In her work she examines the structures and expectations of our society. How can norms be broken down? On which (power) structures are our systems based? Cooke observes, researches, and analyses new artistic contexts. To do so, she employs a wide variety of formats and media such as installation, performance, photography, and video.
Important milestones in her career to date includes solo exhibitions at the Museum Ostwall in Dortmund and the Kunstmuseum Heidenheim. She has also taken part in numerous international group exhibitions at institutions such as Belvedere 21 in Vienna, Mimosa House in London, La Kunsthalle Mulhouse in France, Chennai Photo Biennale in India, and most recently at Kunsthaus Baselland.
