Das Kunstbüro
The Kunstbüro of the Kunststiftung Baden-Württemberg (Art Office of the Arts Foundation Baden Württemberg) concentrates on the professionalisation and the empowerment of visual artists.
With our extensive workshop, mentoring and discourse programme we encourage art producers – in particular those at the start of their career – and support them in the development of their artistic independence as well as the positioning of their work in an artistic context.
To do this we work together with established figures of the art world, including artists, curators and gallerists who create and offer specially themed workshops, consultations, interviews and lectures for our programme.
Through regular collaborations with academies, art colleges, institutions and artist-run spaces and through online events as well, we make our plan available to artists throughout Baden-Württemberg and beyond. The Kunstbüro programme is financed by the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Science, Research and the Arts. The Kunstbüro program is funded by the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Science, Research and the Arts.
Publications by the Kunstbüro of the Kunststiftung Baden-Württemberg include books, brochures and essays and are published at regular intervals to accompany the Kunstbüro’s events. They focus on the various questions and topics that accompany visual artists on their way to independence.
Not only are they meant to serve as practical support or inspiration for artists, but, ideally, better the public’s awareness of the circumstances and interests of the vocation as well.
The individual releases of the publication series are available in local specialist bookshops or can be obtained from us directly.
Following the publication of the symposium volume “Avanti Dilettanti – Professionalization in the Field of Contemporary Art” in 2020, the Kunstbüro has released the publication of the symposium “Present Tense – Working in Critical Times”, which took place in October 2023 at the Staatliche Hochschule für Gestaltung and the Staatliche Akademie der Bildenden Künste in Karlsruhe.
