Elisa Lohmüller

Elisa Lohmüller (*2000) lives and works in Stuttgart. She studied at the State Academy of Fine Arts Stuttgart in the class of Reto Boller. In 2023, she was a guest student at Zurich University of the Arts, followed by a guest semester at the Academy of Fine Arts Munich with Schirin Kretschmann in 2024.
Her artistic practice explores how materials store, transform and accumulate time and meaning. Through conceptual material experiments, she makes fundamental processes such as transience, sedimentation, compression, friction and the formation of traces visible. Her materials are often seemingly insignificant—dust, chewing gum, cellulose, sweat, tears or industrial materials—but through close investigation and deliberate intervention she opens up new fields of possibility for them.
In 2025, Elisa Lohmüller received the Woodcut Award of the Kunstmuseum Reutlingen. Her work has been exhibited at the Staatsgalerie Stuttgart, Constance Contemporary – Kunstbaustelle Stadlerhaus in Constance, Hospitalhof Stuttgart and the Hongik Museum of Art in Seoul, among others. In autumn 2026, she will open a solo exhibition at Städtische Galerie Ostfildern.
