Agnes Müller (*1989) lives and works in Stuttgart. She studied art at the Hochschule der Bildenden Künste Saar including a year abroad at the Bahçeşehir University in Istanbul, as well as philosophy at Saarland University. In 2019/20 she was a meisterschüler under Katharina Hinsberg.
The subjects of her work in the field of performance and video are mundane, simple actions – pedestrian movements – as well as repetitive and continuous sequences of activity. She stages these in a simplified manner by means of a clear, visual language far from one of dramaturgical suspense. Müller often incorporates the public into her works as pictorial elements, testing the image boundaries and their limits. An essential part of her practice is wandering around – strollology – as well as observing everyday phenomena, arrangements and dynamics of bodies in public space.
Agnes Müller has taken part in numerous artist residency programmes, including at the Field Institute Hombroich in Berlin and in Stuttgart. She received funding for her projects on a regular basis.
