Anas Kahal Anas Kahal (*1985) lives and works in Freiburg im Breisgau. He first completed his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Damascus and subsequently transferred to the State Academy of Fine Arts Karlsruhe. There, he studied under Helmut Dorner and Kalin Lindena and took part in the meisterschüler programme in 2016/17.
His experimental working method is characterised by the experimentation of using different planes and the resulting image overlays as well as a combination of physical objects and video projections. The interaction between the moving images within a room is questioned. An important component for the artist is the play of lights and shadows, brightness and darkness in analogue and digital. Technology is a key factor in his work.
In addition to taking part in exhibitions in Germany as well as internationally, Anas was awarded with a residency at the Cité internationale des arts in Paris in 2019.
