Anna Gohmert
Anna Gohmert (*1983) lives and works in Stuttgart. She studied fine arts at the State Academy of Fine Arts Stuttgart (ABK Stuttgart) and was a master student in the Weissenhof Program.
In her interdisciplinary artistic practice, Anna Gohmert works at the intersection of performance, installation, text, film, and artistic research. Her work explores how care, the body, and language construct relationships and how experiences of birth and death, visibility, vulnerability and political participation are inscribed within them.
She does not view her artistic praxis as an autonomous system, but rather as a relational field embedded in social, institutional, and political contexts. Another component of her work is collaboration and exchange with other artists, authors, and contemporaries – in particular with the collective Mothers*, Warriors, and Poets, which addresses collective modes of working, care labor, and the structural conditions of artistic production.
Anna Gohmert’s works have been shown in solo and group exhibitions as well as in institutional contexts in Germany and abroad. She has received numerous prizes, scholarships, and grants. In addition to her artistic practice, she teaches at the ABK Stuttgart and works in various educational and research settings.
