Annette Kelm (*1975) is an artist and photographer who lives and works in Berlin.
Kelm is one of the most important contemporary photographers in Germany.
Her conceptual photographs focus on the conventions of seeing and displaying, the constructed nature of images, and the disclosure of the circumstance of their production. She documents modern everyday culture in her still life portraits, landscape and architectural photographs. Removed from their original context and transferred to new constellations, the motifs elicit associations that reveal artistic, historical and socio-cultural references.
Her work has been shown internationally in numerous solo and group exhibitions, including at the Museum Frieder Burda | Salon Berlin, the Fosun Foundation in Shanghai, the Kunsthalle Vienna, the Kestner Gesellschaft Hannover, the Museum of Contemporary Art Detroit, MoMa in New York, the Hammer Museum in Los Angeles, the Museum of Modern Art Vienna, the Museum of Contemporary Art Rome, the Staatsgalerie Stuttgart, the Kunsthalle Hamburg and the Kunstmuseum Solothurn. kkkk Annette Kelms Arbeiten wurden vielfach ausgezeichnet und sind in namhaften Sammlungen vertreten. Im Wintersemester 2021/2022 hatte sie eine Gastprofessur an der HfG Karlsruhe inne.
