Gin Bahc Gin Bahc (*1985) lives and works in Karlsruhe. He studied painting at the State Academy of Fine Arts Karlsruhe.
The basis of Gin Bahc’s work is influenced by her interest in social issues as well as the behaviour of people within their social environments. Her work questions the growing media overload and the apparent loss of control over one’s own life. Different determinants analyse power and control structures and gain a larger spatial language. Exposure and veiling, humiliation, self-determination and power are important themes here. Her drawings are the starting point for installations and performances that confront the audience with a flood of associative images.
In 2019/20 Gin Bahc was on scholarship at the Cité internationale des arts Paris, and in 2021 she received a scholarship from the Kunststiftung Baden-Württemberg. She has been teaching at the Kunsthochschule Kassel since the 2022 summer semester.
