Jacob Ott Jacob Ott (*1992) lives and works in the High and Upper Rhine area. He studied at the Freiburg School of Art, Design and Popular Music, the Stuttgart State Academy of Fine Arts, and at the Basel Academy of Art and Design.
Jacob Ott works with a variety of media – from sculpture, assemblages, painting and installation to film, sound and performance. The style of his work is influenced by his exploration into the habits and symbols that shape social arrangements and institutions. Much of his work deals with the fundamental elements of art production and the individual components and structures of the institution of art itself. Through simple, seemingly illogical interferences and a denaturalisation of the natural, his work offers a possible reflection on the often arbitrary or violent divisions and rules that go hand in hand with the increasing civilisation of our world.
His works have been shown in numerous exhibitions in, for example, Basel, Freiburg, Leipzig and Mexico City.
