Jeremiah Day (*1974) lives and works in Berlin and Amsterdam. He studied art at the University of California in Los Angeles and subsequently completed a residency programme at the Rijksakademie in Amsterdam. In 2017 he earned his PhD at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam for his practice-based project renewing the exploration of art’s role in our society.
In his research-based works Jeremiah Day combines photography, text, live performance and improvised movement to illuminate the history of individual places and events that are embedded in larger historical contexts. In the last two decades he has concentrated almost exclusively on dance, working regularly together with the pioneer of postmodern dance, Simone Forti.
His installations, performances and lectures have been shown at, among others, the Kunstverein Baden (2020), KW Institute for Contemporary Art, Berlin (2017), Centre Pompidou, Paris (2014) and the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam (2012).
