Karsten Födinger

Karsten Födinger (*1978) works and lives in Berlin. He studied at the State Academy of Fine Arts Karlsruhe under Meuser and Günter Umberg and completed his apprenticeship as a meisterschüler in 2009.
His work, mostly constructed using simple building materials, lays somewhere between architecture and sculpture. In addition to large sculptures for interiors and indoor spaces, Karsten Födinger’s work is characterised in particular by sc ulptural interventions in public spaces. Their location and its historical and cultural context always play a major role the pieces.
His works have been shown in numerous solo exhibitions, including at Kunstverein Mönchengladbach (2018), Antenna Space in Shanghai (2015) and Palais de Tokyo (2011). He was awarded the Baloise Art Prize, Art 43 Basel Statements sector in 2012. In 2012 he was awarded with the Baloise Art Prize, Art 43 Basel Statements.
