Valentina Karga

(*1986) lives and works in Berlin and Hamburg. She studied Architecture at the University of Volos.
Her artistic practice lays somewhere between art, design, research and architecture. She combines elements of participation and speculative experiments that question prevailing social and physical infrastructures in energy, economy, and sustainability.
Valentina Karga is a founding member of the Collective Disaster, an interdisciplinary group that works in the interstices of architecture and the social realm.
She was a fellow at the Berlin Centre for Advanced Studies in Arts and Science/Graduate School at the University of the Arts Berlin, a Saari Fellow in Finland, a resident at the Nanyang Technological University Centre for Contemporary Art in Singapore and was awarded the Vilém Flusser Residency for Artistic Research. Her work has been shown at the National Museum of Contemporary Art Athens, the Athens Biennale, the first Thailand Biennale, the Konsthall C, the Hippolyte Gallery in Helsinki and in a major exhibition curated by the Whitechapel Gallery, among others. She has been a professor at the University of Fine Arts Hamburg (HFBK) since 2018.
