Susanne Kriemann Susanne Kriemann (*1972) She studied in Stuttgart under Joseph Kosuth and Joan Jonas and took part in the Programme de recherche at the Beaux-Arts de Paris.
Susanne Kriemann’s artistic practice is characterised by a broad understanding of photography. With this extended notion, she reflects on the world as a photographic recording system for specific sociohistorical processes. Her working methods range from research in archives to fieldwork and the use of different photographic recording and printing methods. In addition to a number of publications on her own work, she has published seventeen artists’ books since 1998.
Susanne Kriemann’s work has been shown internationally in renowned exhibition venues and at various biennials and festivals. She has also participated in numerous artist residency programmes and was an advisor at the Van Eyck Academy in Maastricht until 2017. Together with Aleksander Komarov she founded the residency programme AIR Berlin Alexanderplatz. Since 2017 she has been working as a professor for photography at the Karlsruhe University of Arts and Design.
